Our tour starts at the Touristikzentrale, which is located opposite the main station in the Handelshof. The building was erected in 1912 and was primarily used as a hotel (the first tenants were the parents of the actor Heinz Rühmann who was born in Essen. Today, the Handelshof is a listed building.
