Direct debit mandate

For payment amounts that fall due at regular intervals (e.g. property charges, trade taxes, entertainment tax and dog tax, rents and ground rents, kindergarten contributions) you have the option to pay by direct debit mandate.

This procedure brings you the following advantages:
You always pay the correct amount on time, even if there is a change in the actual amount demanded. Therefore there is no need to change standing orders, and higher charges due to in-payments are avoided.
You save yourself the hassle of annoying and costly reminders.
Reductions (reimbursements) will be re-transferred to your specified account without any further formalities.

If you decide to use the direct debit mandate process, you can complete the form "Einzugsermächtigung" (Direct Debit Mandate) on your screen. In order to be able to print out and work with the form, you only need Acrobat Reader from Adobe on your system (available free of charge from Adobe). If you do not yet have the relevant program, you can download it here: Acrobat Reader

Send your completed and signed direct debit mandate to:

Stadt Essen
Der Oberbürgermeister
Finanzbuchhaltung
45036 Essen

Please note the following:
Debits will be charged to your account in accordance with the due date for the payment of which you are informed in your payment notice.
Savings accounts cannot be used for the direct debit mandate procedure.
Within six weeks after a direct debit has been charged to your account, you are entitled to demand from your bank that your account be re-credited with this amount.
If you change banks or accounts, you must immediately inform the Finanzbuchhaltung in writing.
